Metalloinvest Implements Unique Test Equipment
In the central lab of Ural Steel (belongs to Metalloinvest) new equipment is installed, including vertical impact testing machine (steel drop-weight test) of the UK IMATEK firm. Ural Steel is the first enterprise in Russia that has such high class test equipment.
The decision about the purchasing of new test equipment was made by the management of Metalloinvest holding and Ural Steel in order to increase plate quality control due to the growing demand for high quality steel. Vertical impact testing machine is meant for mechanical testing of flat steel of the thickness up to 40 mm designed to the tubes and pipes making. The similar machines available at the mill allow to test the strips of the thickness up to 14 mm. The main advantage of the new equipment is convenient software which allows on-line following the testing process and results. The introduction of the machine will let the manufacturer enlarge the strips range of the thickness up to 40 mm of any steel grade.
