In 2009 as compared to 2008 China increased production of ten basic nonferrous metals by 3.99% to 26.05 M tons.
According to calculations, production of refined copper at Chinese companies last year made 4.11 M tons, primary aluminium – 12.85 M tons, lead – 3.71 M tons, zinc – 4.36 M tons, nickel – 164.8 thousand tons, tin – 134.5 thousand tons, antimony – 165.8 thousand tons, magnesium – 500.8 thousand tons, titanium sponge – 61.5 thousand tons.
In financial calculation production dropped by 11.27% in 2009 as compared to 2008 and made $ 83.2 billion.
It is known that China is the largest consumer of copper in the world. Some time before an analyst from Beijing Antaike Information Development Co. Yan Changhua guessed that consumption of copper in China in 2010 will grow by 8% and reach 5.8 M tons. Representatives of China Minmetals Nonferrous Metals Co. expressed an opinion that this year PRC may cut twice its import of copper. According to their words, supplies of “red metal” to drop by 53% to 1.5 M tons.
