Non-Ferrous Metals Output in Russia Decreased in 2009

The output of almost all non-ferrous metals in Russia decreased in 2009 as compared with 2008, according to the State Statistics Service of Russia.

As per the calculations primary aluminium output decreased by 8.9%, zinc - by 13.8 %, lead - by 8.8%, copper - 0.8%, and nickel - by 2.5%.

At the same time cobalt output fell by 5%, tungsten - by 31.9%, titanium - by 35.2%, and magnum - by 32.7%.

Besides, rolled metals output  also decreased. Rolled copper output decreased by 50.1%, rolled bronze output fell by 45.7%, rolled brass - by 28.1%, and rolled aluminium - by 311%.

However, molybdenum output grew by 23.8% in Russian in 2009.

Earlier the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the RF said that non-ferrous metals consumption in Russia will significantly grow by 2011. It is assumed that by 2011 aluminum consumption will increase by 25%, zinc - by 6%, nickel - by 21.4%, and rolled titanium - by 33.4% comparing to 2007.
