The objective of the Forum is to further the foundation of electronic knowledge database in Russia to be widely used for distance educational purposes by mining and metallurgical companies, scientific, research and educational organizations. The project will be implemented in the form of a social network available both for the teachers and students.
It will help the market operators to increase the personnel educational level and to increase education availability and affordability for everybody.
The decision on the database foundation was made at Government level. Among the organizations that take part in the Forum preparation there are the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the Ministry of Education of Russia, the Ministry of Economical Development of Russia, Russkaya Stal Company, as well as the lead mining and metallurgical companies, research and educational organizations.
The project complies with the APEC program on sustainable development in mining, presented by Rusmet's experts at the APEC conference in Singapore in 2009. Further on the project will be offered in other APEC countries.
Among the Forum participants there are the representative of Russian Ministries, profile universities, lead metallurgical and mining companies, and foreign suppliers of equipment and solutions for the project implementation.

Knowledge Database
The database characteristics:
- The database embraces all stages of education such as college, university, advanced training, and re-training (the number of employees in the sector is 1.2 million people).
- Involvement all existing profile educational organizations in the database development and use (32 universities, 12 of which are involved in training of 80% of the specialists).
- One of the key tasks of the database is the support to research work in Russia (15 scientific and educational organizations provide research work in Russia. More than 5000 people are involved).
